Semrush is a broad marketing platform. It covers keyword research, backlink analysis and technical audits, tracks how your brand appears in AI search (ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and others), and also offers content, local listings, advertising and social media tools. Its unified product is called Semrush One.
It serves solopreneurs, freelancers, small teams, agencies and enterprises. A free plan with limited tools exists, and paid plans can be tried free for 7 days without a credit card.

Practical answers, plus what users report on review sites
Semrush brings keyword research, competitor analysis, rank tracking, site audits and content tools into one platform. It helps you see where rivals get their traffic, which keywords are worth chasing, and what is holding your own site back. For a small business it is a research desk for deciding where to put SEO effort.
It works for a small team that will use it regularly, but the entry price is high for a business that only needs occasional checks. The lowest tier has limits on projects and tracked keywords, and some features are held back for higher plans. Try the free trial with a clear goal before paying.
A third-party review in 2026 lists Pro at about 140 dollars a month, or about 117 with annual billing, Guru at about 250, and Business at about 500. Moving from Pro to Guru is a large jump, and some features such as historical data sit in higher tiers. Confirm current prices and seat costs on the vendor page.
You can research keywords, analyse competitors' traffic and backlinks, track rankings, audit up to 100,000 pages per audit on the Pro plan according to a third-party review, and plan content. Higher plans add the content marketing toolkit, historical data, multi-location tracking and Looker Studio connection. An AI visibility bundle was also listed.
It helps rather than replaces. Semrush shows you opportunities and problems, but writing content, fixing the site and building links still need a person or an agency. It is easy to collect more data than you can act on, so decide which two or three reports you will really use.
A third-party review notes Looker Studio integration on the Guru plan and API access on the Business plan. Other connections, such as Google Search Console and Analytics, are commonly used with it, but we could not confirm the full list. Check the vendor site for the integrations your team depends on.
Billing is the main warning. Reviewers on Trustpilot report that the free trial needs a card and auto-renews, and that cancelling means contacting support, sometimes with refunds refused. Keyword volumes can also differ from Search Console, especially for low-volume terms. Set a calendar reminder to cancel, and compare a few figures yourself. Adobe's announced acquisition may affect future pricing, so get renewal terms in writing.
